Guided missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) prepares to sortie in advance of Hurricane Sandy. Adm. Bill Gortney, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, ordered all U.S. Navy ships in the Hampton Roads, Va., area to set Sortie Condition Alpha Oct. 26, 2012, in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.
