Municipality of Dipaculao government officials pose for a photo alongside U.S. Armed Forces and Armed Forces of the Philippines civil affairs leadership following a town hall in Aurora, Philippines, April 13, 2023. The town hall spread awareness of Exercise Balikatan and allowed 25 barangay captains to voice concerns regarding its impact on the local community. Balikatan, Tagalog for “shoulder-to-shoulder,” is an annual bilateral exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military. The exercise provides unique opportunities for participating forces to increase interoperability and provide tangible benefits for the people of the Philippines.
