Firefighters with Fire and Emergency Services, work to reset the Drager Phase 1 System, before the next rotation of firefighters enter the system to recreate more fire and smoke behaviors during training aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, March 30. The firefighters would douse the old wood and coals, then reload the Drager system with new wood, closing it up, then stoking the fresh wood into flames using a torch. The vents on the top and back, as well as the doors, are used to control the amount of air the fire gets, in order to manipulate the fire and smoke behaviors. This allows firefighters to experience real-life hazardous events, such as full burn-overs, and zero visibility, in a safe and controlled environment.
