Brig. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, meets with Maj. Gen. Latif Fayziev, Advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Defense, Republic of Tajikistan Nov. 12, 2014, at the Marine Corps University, Quantico Marine Base, Quantico, Va. Fayziev and his delegation met with United States Department of Defense officials Nov. 9-23, 2014, as part of a Distinguished Visitor Orientation Tour.

The Distinguished Visitor Orientation Tours Program is a U.S. Security Assistance Program based at the National Defense University that provides a vehicle for flag or general officers to learn about specific assets of the U.S. defense establishment in order to improve their own militaries and governments.

As part of the National Guard’s State Partnership Program, the Virginia National Guard conducts military-to-military engagements in support of defense security goals, but also leverages whole-of-society relationships and capabilities to facilitate broader interagency and corollary engagements spanning military, government, economic and social spheres. Va. Guard Soldiers and Airmen gain experience working overseas with Tajikistani partners and reinforces the knowledge, skills and attributes obtained during the past decade. (Photo by Capt. Andrew J.
