Master Sgt. Douglas Norton, assigned to U.S. Army Central, poses for a portrait, before the Lucky 7 Espirit de Corps Run, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, April, 6, 2023. The Lucky 7 Espirit de Corps Run reinforces USARCENTs focus people, partnerships, readiness; included NCOs across four major commands: USARCENT, Task Force Spartan, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, and 160th Signal Brigade.
“Espirit de corps runs are a tradition in the Army,” said Norton. “We do a nice run and call a lot of cadences…it’s fun. We’re here to train soldiers and have fun. It’s important for us as NCOs to come together in this deployed environment and take care of each other. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. If I can come out here and scream some cadence and I can get some younger soldiers to learn some cadences, then they can take my place. That’s what it’s all about. Someday soon I’ll be retiring from the Army and young soldiers are here to take my spot and carry the torch.” (U.S. Army photo by Spc. David Campos-Contreras)
