Pohang Beach, South Korea (March. 24, 2023) – U.S. Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 1st Marine Division, and Marine Corps Installations Pacific, assist Republic of Korea marines with the clean-up of Pohang Beach during a community relations event, March 24. Community relations projects show additional support to Allies and partners, and assist in maintaining bonds between nations. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and the amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), and operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
