Photo illustration created to highlight Renowned Reservist Capt. Peter Cuderman, the executive officer of Charlie Company, 4th Amphibious Assault Vehicle Battalion, and deputy legislative affairs director in the Executive Office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, at Galveston, Texas, Feb. 4, 2023. The Fort Myers, Florida-native joined the Selected Marine Corps Reserve to continue his family’s legacy of joining the armed forces, while continuing to progress within his governmental affairs career. Cuderman was selected by his command as a Renowned Reservist, a new initiative, highlighting the highest performers across the SMCR.

“In the legislative affairs at the office for Governor Ron DeSantis, we’re consistently working with legislators in both the state house and the state senate to move forward the Governor's goals and initiatives to move Florida in the right direction,” said Cuderman. “Similar to the Marine Corps, I felt like it was an opportunity for me to help push positivity and growth to make Florida a better place, just like I hope I’m leaving the Marine Corps a better place.”

Being a part of the SMCR gives Cuderman and other Marines the opportunity to be a part of the Marine Corps community while maintaining careers thought out their daily lives.

Stay tuned to see the Renowned Reservists training as a part Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) 25 in the upcoming Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) this summer. ITX is a live-fire and maneuver combined arms exercise designed to train battalion and squadron-sized units in tactics, techniques, and procedures. The exercise also acts as a mass mobilization rehearsal for the Reserve units and enhances the total Reserve force readiness to rapidly deploy when called. This provides a sustainable and ready operational Reserve force for employment across the full spectrum of crisis and global engagement. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Lance Cpl.
