Col. Heather Levy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District commander, presents a commander's coin to Lt. Col. Chris Mercado, UNCSB-JSA, provided a tour of Camp Bonifas and an overview of their mission during a visit of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and Joint Security Area (JSA).
“Coming here really gives the team perspective on the unique mission that FED has in Korea,” said Levy.
While there, the group from the Far East District ventured into Tunnel 3, one of four known tunnels under the border. They also viewed North Korea from an observatory and walked along the Korean border in the JSA.
