Fred Liebel works to repair Cpl. Garrett Carne's flat tire near the 17th mile of the 37th Marine Corp Marathon in D.C. Oct. 28, 2012. Liebel, a Team Semper Fi coach, stopped to help out with the flat. Carnes was injured while serving in Afghanistan in February after an IED exploded causing him to lose parts of both legs. The two were among the 23,864 starters in the race who came from across the United States and 47 countries to run in the world's ninth largest marathon. The Marine Corps Marathon was created to promote physical fitness, generate community goodwill and showcase the organizational skills of the Marine Corps. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt.
