Mountains reflect off a window as U.S. Army paratrooper Spc. Gabriel Warnke, 1st Squadron (Airborne), 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, receives radio transmissions in a Bandvagn 206 during Alpine Star - Winter Resolve 23 in Corvara, Italy, Mar. 15, 2023. Exercise Alpine Star - Winter Resolve is an Italian Army-hosted multinational mountain and arctic warfare training exercise. Three reconnaissance platoons from the 173rd Airborne Brigade take part in a three-phase training regimen led by the Alpini Brigade to expand force capabilities by learning how to move, shoot and operate in mountainous and arctic conditions. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.(U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
