U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Gage Maldonado, an administrative specialist with the command element, 31st Marine expeditionary Unit, accounts for Marines during a pre-flight immediate action response rehearsal aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), in the Philippine Sea, Jan. 28. Battalion Landing Team 1/4 conducted rehearsals to prepare for missions including platoon and company sized reinforcement, and the tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
