U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Nathan Decker, a ground electronic transmission systems maintainer with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), sets up a Ground-Based Operational Surveillance System aboard the Wasp-Class Amphibious Assault Ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) during a visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) drill Jan. 27, 2023. The system was used to track a simulated adversary ship, aiding Marines with the Maritime Special Purpose Force in executing the VBSS mission. The event was part of Amphibious Squadron/MEU Integrated Training, the first at-sea period in the 26th MEU’s Pre-Deployment Training Program which focuses on strengthening relationships across the Navy/Marine Corps team and increasing lethality in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
