U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Zachary Koon, a UH-1Y Venom crew chief with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 167, fires a .50-caliber machine gun over Blue Mountain Airfield, Arizona, Jan. 26, 2023. HMLA-167 trained to increase proficiency during a unit-level deployment for training (DFT). The purpose of the DFT was to increase the squadron’s proficiency in expeditionary close-air support, shore-based operations, and defensive-air maneuvering.
