U.S. Marine Corps Col. Brendan Burks, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point commanding officer, gives remarks before presenting Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) time-off awards and Safety coins to five air station employees at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, Jan. 17, 2023. The employees were awarded for their completion of more than 10 safety assessments, each, in support of the command’s VPP, which are mandated by OSHA. The actions go toward the command’s goal of applying for the next VPP star rating and show that Cherry Point is a premier air station regarding safety.
