The Santa Maria-class frigate ESPS Santa Maria (F81) operates in the Gulf of Aden Dec. 3, 2022, during exercise Bull Shark. Exercise Bull Shark is a personnel recovery exercise involving members of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, U.S. Navy, the Djiboutian Coast Guard, Spanish Navy, and Spanish Special Operations Maritime Task Unit, aimed to strengthen interoperability between like-minded partners in the region.
