Instructors help 68T10 Animal Care Specialist students, assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, check the vitals of canines that have been put under general anesthesia, Jan. 19, 2023, at Camp Bullis, Texas. This is a Field Training Exercise which is a culminating event to demonstrate proficiency in all job skills gained over the past 11 weeks. They placed canines under general anesthesia, perfored comprehensive oral health and treatments, ran hematology and chemistry analyzers and performed Canine Tactical Combat Casualty Care among other tasks. Operating in these environments may also require veterinary staff to manage more complex cases, so confidence and competence in their skills is vital. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tristin English)
