Sgt. Matthew Sullivan, a fire support specialist assigned to Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, observes artillery fire impact during Field Artillery Certification at Dona Anna Range Complex, Fort Bliss, Texas, January 13, 2023. The 4-1 FA conducted fire support Table XV as part of their training certification process in preparation for their upcoming National Training Center rotation.
“This is the best job in the Army because you’re like a salesman working with leaders and Soldiers to show them what you bring to the table, how to implement your assets and why you play a significant role in the battlefield,” said Sgt. Matthew Sullivan.
Fire support Table XV tests a unit’s ability to provide accurate and precise artillery support while mirroring the stress of real-world combat scenarios. Conducting certification lets commanders assess the proficiency and readiness of their units.
