YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 13, 2022) — Capt. Les Sobol, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) poses with Assistant Commissioner Kazuo Katoh, Yokosuka Police Station chief and other Yokosuka traffic safety organization during an event raising awareness of drunk driving during the holiday season. At the event, involves handing out Japanese daikon radishes to pedestrians. “Daikon” is a play on words as it is close to the Japanese word “daikonzetsu”, meaning eradication (of drunk driving). For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
