YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 13, 2022) — Sailors assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) and members of the CFAY safety department pose for a group photo during an event raising awareness of drunk driving during the holiday season. The event, held in conjunction with the Yokosuka Police Station and the other relevant Yokosuka safety organizations, involves handing out Japanese daikon radishes to pedestrians. “Daikon” is a play on words as it is close to the Japanese word “daikonzetsu”, meaning eradication (of drunk driving). For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
