Alaska Air National Guard state command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Kim Groat, shares some Christmas joy with a young child from the community of Minto, Alaska, during Operation Santa Claus at the local school Nov. 22, 2022. Operation Santa Claus is the Alaska National Guard’s yearly community relations and support program that provides gifts to children in remote communities across the state. Santa and more than a dozen helper elves transferred to two Alaska Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopters to deliver 650 pounds of gifts, backpacks, hygiene supplies, and books to 65 children in Minto.
