Coast Guard rescues 12 Haitians left abandoned by smugglers on Monito Island, Puerto Rico [Image 1 of 3]
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos rescued 12 Haitians Nov. 15, 2022, who were left abandoned by smugglers on the rocky cliffs of Monito cay, Puerto Rico. The survivors, seven men and five women, were transferred to Ramey Sector U.S Border Patrol agents in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Monito cay is an uninhabited natural reserve located in the middle of the Mona Passage just off Mona Island, Puerto Rico. (U.S. Coast Guard photo).
