A Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s 102nd Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Company member checks a U.S. Army Soldier from 95th Chemical Company, 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 11th Airborne Division, for notional contaminants as the last part of decontamination during a mass casualty exercise as part of Keen Sword 23, at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 12.
Along with Marines from across III Marine Expeditionary Force, the units reacted to a suspected attack and detected contaminants, identified and removed casualties, and conducted decontamination as a joint, bilateral force. Exercise Keen Sword Is a biennial, bilateral training evolution that strengthens the U.S.-Japan Alliance and ensures security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
