Capt. Phillip Walker (right), E3 AWACS pilot, U.S. Air Force 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron, takes detailed notes on an Angolan ICU patient in preparation to translate it to the U.S Army medical team during MEDREX Angola 23-1 held at the Hospital Militar Principal in Luanda, Angola, Nov. 8-18, 2022.

Walker is part of the Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP) giving key translation services to the medical teams as they work shoulder to shoulder to provide medical treatment to military and civilian patients in the community.

MEDREX is a medical training exercise, planned and executed by the United States Army Southern European Task Force, Africa, that allows military health specialists from the U.S. Army and their African Partners to exchange medical practices, procedures and techniques that build and strengthen treatment capabilities, resulting in lasting relationships between medical professionals.
