U.S Air Force Capt. Nestor Soriano, 27th Special Operations Squadron AC-130J Ghostrider pilot, prepares for a refuel from a KC-46A Pegasus assigned the 22nd Operations Group at McConnell Air Force Base move closer in order to conduct an air refuel on their way to Yokota Air Base, Japan, Nov. 5, 2022. The flight to Yokota consisted of a 12.5 hour flight to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman, and the longest flight in AC-130J history of 16 hour flight to Yokota. The 17th Special Operations Squadron is participating in Keen Sword 23, which is a biennial, joint field training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) personnel in the vicinity of Japan to enhance Japan-U.S combat readiness and interoperability. The 17 SOS’s participation of Keen Sword will be supporting the ACE strategy via light logistics packages, to include bringing the ammunition needed for the duration of the exercise and the personnel needed to execute.
