U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Nicolas R. Applegate, the Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic (FMFLANT), Marine Forces Command (MARFORCOM), Marine Forces Northern Command (MARFOR NORTHCOM) adjutant, reads Gen. John A. Lejeune's birthday message at Ruritan Club, Chesapeake, Va., Nov. 9, 2022. Marines with FMFLANT, MARFORCOM, MARFOR NORTHCOM, and their respective Headquarters and Service Battalion, visited the local veteran to celebrate the U.S. Marine Corps 247th annual birthday and reaffirm the ethos of once a Marine, always a Marine.
