    SETAF-AF E3B Weapons Lanes

Army 1st Lt. Liam McNeil, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), removes the short plug dust cover in before test firing an M18A1 Claymore mine at the Expert Soldier Badge (ESB) test on Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy, Nov. 7, 2022. The ESB is a special skills badge that is awarded to U.S. military personnel and NATO military personnel who successfully complete a set of qualification test, including both written and performance portions. More than 1,200 U.S Army Soldiers across Europe tested their proficiency in the "E3B," a combined event for awarding the Expert Infantry Badge, Expert Soldier Badge or the Expert Field Medical Badge to qualifying soldiers. After two weeks of train-up, the candidates compete individually to achieve the badge in their respective testing event. This was the first E3B hosted at U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) with competitors from 173rd Airborne Brigade, 509th Strategic Signal Battalion, U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, units from U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command and service members from Spain, Croatia and Italy.
