Marine facilities inspectors from U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam conduct qualification training and go through a simulated facilities exam at the Jose D. Leon Guerrero Commercial Port of Guam to help the port be ready for their annual exam in a few months, Oct. 26, 2022. These exams fall under the U.S. Coast Guard’s marine safety, marine environmental protection, and port, waterways, and coastal security missions. Within the context of these three missions, the Coast Guard inspects waterfront facilities for safety and security requirements to prevent accidents or intentional acts that could cause death and injury, the spill or release of oil or hazardous material into the environment, or a disruption to the Marine Transportation System.
