An Iraqi army soldier from the 1st Battalion, 4th Brigade, 1st Iraqi Army Division, shakes hands with a disabled citizen of Schmook Village in Zafaraniya, Jan. 13. Soldiers from the Iraqi army unit distributed 40 donated wheelchairs to disabled residents in the village, and Abu Karrar, a disabled veteran who represents the Neighborhood Advisory Committee from Muhallah 964, compiled a list of citizens to receive the wheelchairs. This marks the second time Iraqi army soldiers from the unit have distributed wheelchairs to residents in Schmook Village this month. The unit, with support from 2nd Bn., 30th Inf. Soldiers, gave 50 free wheelchairs to the deserving people of the village, Jan. 5. Many citizens of Schmook Village are disabled veterans of the Iran-Iraq War.
