U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Matthew Schultz, an operations planner, and Maj. Sean Norton, a logistics planner, participate in joint planning efforts while serving as liaison officers from 3d Marine Division to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and Marine Forces Pacific at Camp Smith, Hawaii during Resolute Dragon 22 and KAMANDAG 6, Oct. 11, 2022. "Effective joint task force employment requires significant integration with unified action partners from across the joint interagency," said Schultz. "That integration comes in the form of procedures, processes, relationships, and networks that must be established and rehearsed in competition. The deployment of multi-functional teams offers an opportunity to enhance joint integration at all echelons of command while coordinating with 3d Marine Division's forward-deployed command and control nodes." Exercises like KAMANDAG and Resolute Dragon strengthen international partnerships, mutual security, and the ability to rapidly respond to crises throughout the Indo-Pacific.
