A Turkish firefighter assigned to the 39th Civil Engineer Squadron turns the emergency hatch on the rear-side emergency exit door of a KC-135 Stratotanker during a fire rescue training course at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, Sept. 29, 2022. Boonstra, 97th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron assistant director of operations, right, and other flight crew members from the 97th EARS trained Turkish firefighters on opening the emergency doors and disabling key systems. This training ensures 39th CES Turkish firefighters can assist in emergency situations enabling the 97th EARS to provide support to allied and coalition partner aircraft and defend NATO’s southern flank.
