U.S. Army soldiers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade await take-off aboard a C-17 Globemaster III on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 7, 2022. In support of the 173rd ABN’s Saber Junction 2022, the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing readied the aircraft, aircrew, loaded cargo and passengers and hosted the paratroopers in the nearby Hangar Five as a preparation facility.
Saber Junction is a multinational rotational exercise designed to assess the readiness of the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade to execute unified land operations in a joint, combined environment and to promote interoperability with more than 4,500 participants from the U.S. and Allied and partner nations.
