SAN DIEGO (Sept. 24, 2022) – Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Neil Sandall, explains operations that occur in the welldeck of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) to a tour group during the 100 year anniversary of Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) celebration, Sept. 24. The NBSD Centennial Celebration honored the partnership between the base and its community by granting public access to a portion of the base and showing off Navy assets while providing a better understanding of what happens within the base.
