U.S. Army Sgt. Dillon Tonne, a Ronkonkoma, NY, native and crew chief for Bravo Company, 3-142 Assault Helicopter Battalion, based out of Ronkonkoma, clears the area around a UH-60M Black Hawk before engine start-up at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Sept. 16, 2022. Tonne assisted the aircraft’s pilots in landing areas with heavy clouds of dust and debris during their training mission. Crew chiefs also perform the day-to-day maintenance required to keep aircraft safe to fly. 3-142nd AHB, attached to 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, currently supports the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve mission to advise, assist, and enable partnered forces in the enduring defeat of Da'esh, the common Arabic term for IS or ISIS, within designated areas of Iraq and Syria.
