U.S. Air Force Firemen assigned to the 51st Civil Engineer Squadron, inspect the Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS) prior to an operational test of the system during a week-long training event at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Sept. 12, 2022. Landing on a damaged runway could cause damage to an aircraft. The MAAS reduces the time and space needed for an aircraft to make a full landing in the event of a damaged flightline.
