A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, takes off with U.S. Marines assigned to Echo Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd MEU, after the completion of tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel training with Italian marines from the San Marco Marine Brigade in Grottaglie, Italy, July 21, 2022. The training highlighted the exchanging of ideas and practices between the two NATO nations and further developed their interoperability. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd MEU, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
