Scotts Bluff National Monument in Gering, Nebraska, was a landmark to travelers in the mid 1800’s and is now a landmark to national park and national monument enthusiasts. Scotts Bluff is about 800 feet above the North Platte River, has exposed rocks dating back 33 million years and offers views of the surrounding area.
