Lt. Cmdr. Sarah Duffy, from Pittsburgh, Pa., and a United States Naval Academy graduate, is the division officer at Navy Medicine Readiness Training Unit Bangor.
As a comprehensive dentist serving in the nation’s third largest fleet concentration, the majority of her patients work at a high operational tempo assigned to surface and subsurface commands.
“We ensure that our Sailors are ready to deploy at a moment's notice, preparing them for going underway with optimal dental health,” stated Duffy, who is well aware of what it takes to go haze-gray underway having deployed around the world when stationed on nuclear aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), 2018-2020.
For Duffy, her chosen profession is more than just a job. It’s a sworn obligation of dedication and determination.
“Being part of the NMRTU Bangor teams means that I am able to serve the most deserving patients while working with some of the best colleagues possible,” exclaimed Duffy.
When asked to sum up her experience in one sentence, Duffy replied, “Working hard to get our patients ready to deploy, and enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.”
