NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity set a one-day distance record for martian driving on the rover's 383rd martian day, or sol, which began on Feb. 19, 2005. Opportunity rolled 177.5 meters (582 feet) across the plain of Meridiani on that sol. It used its navigation camera after the drive to take the images that are combined into this mosaic view. The view is presented here in a polar projection with geometric seam correction.
