    Dentists from Solomon Islands, Pacific Partnership Brush up on Universal Oral Health Concerns

    HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS (Aug. 18, 2022) – From left, Dr. Angella Doris Fakasaoforau Tahani, chief dental officer for Guadalcanal Province Health and Medical Services, and Lt. Cmdr. Alice-Anne Alcorn, a U.S. Navy dentist with Pacific Partnership 2022, exchange dental expertise at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara, Solomon Islands, Aug. 18, 2022. The Solomon Island Dental Association invited Alcorn to be part of its continuing education program. She is currently in Honiara as part of Pacific Partnership 2022 and will be working with local dentists, conducting seminars and seeing local patients, including students in area schools. Now in its 17th year, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. In Honiara, the Pacific Partnership 2022 team is comprised of representatives from Australia, Japan, and the United States. PP22 events are coordinated with the host nation and are planned based on the requirements and requests of Solomon Islands. Engagements in Honiara will include medical care and exchanges, engineering projects, discussions on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and community outreach events, including band concerts.
