PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 5, 2022) – Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Alec Weld, left, and Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) 3rd Class Veronica Pratt test the conductivity of the reverse-osmosis system in a main machinery room aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Aug. 5. Regular testing of the reverse-osmosis system ensures that all Sailors and Marines aboard Makin Island have fresh water for drinking, hygiene and cooking. Makin Island, flagship of Amphibious Squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in the U.S. 3rd fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
