Airman 1st Class Juan Rivera adjusts the temperature controls on a large pan of green peppers during meal preparation at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, Aug. 14, 2022. Rivera has been a member of the 127th Force Support Squadron at Selfridge for about two years. Rivera said soaking the peppers in hot water briefly before baking them allows the peppers to cook slower and retain more flavor. “That’s something I never knew before. You learn a lot of little tricks working in an Air Force kitchen,” he said. The peppers were eventually served as stuffed peppers during a lunch meal. The squadron’s Services Flight provides meals, lodging, fitness and other support services to the 1,700 Citizen-Airmen of the 127th Wing at Selfridge. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt.
