David Paquet serves as chief engineer on the Essayons, one of two hopper dredges owned and operated by the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Paquet has been with the Essayons for 30 years. The Essayons, operated by a merchant marine crew, helps maintain the entrance bars, rivers and harbors on the coasts of California, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska and, in emergencies, the Mississippi River.
