26th Civil Engineer Squadron and Air Force Reserve’s 301st CES play a Cherokee game of social stickball during a cultural day in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Aug. 5, 2022. Many different Native American tribes played a variation of stick bill. Tribes would sometimes use stick ball games to settle disputes between two nations. The game is similar to lacrosse but players use two sticks to throw and catch. The two units are participating in an Innovative Readiness Training Cherokee Veterans Housing Initiative. This volunteer opportunity provides U.S. military personnel with readiness training while addressing public and civil-society needs. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Brian Ellison)
