Tom ‘Sling’ Bladen, the previous wing commander of the 104th Fighter Wing, waves at family and friends gathered for his ‘fini flight’ on August 4, 2022, at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts. ‘Fini flights’ or final flights are ceremonial flights performed at the conclusion of one’s career or assignment.
