U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Nathan Lewis, a designated marksman with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, from Walnut Grove, Miss., poses for a portrait after completing Range 400 during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-22 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 23, 2022. Lewis works as a beekeeper for his civilian occupation and enlisted in the Marine Corps to follow in his father’s footsteps. When asked about why he decided to enlist in the Marine Corps Reserve, Lewis said, “I wanted to give back to my country and continue doing what I love; the reserves seemed like the perfect option for me.” Marines and Sailors with MAGTF-23 maintain various civilian careers while continuing to answer the irrational call to service in the Marine Corps Reserve.
