Massachusetts Wing Cadet Colonels Leah Vigevani and Sarah Vigevani were awarded the Civil Air Patrol's highest cadet honor, the General Carl "Tooey" Spaatz Award.. The award was presented by Brig. Gen. Virginia Gaglio, Commander and Chief of Staff, Massachusetts Air National Guard, during a ceremony held on Aug. 1, 2022 at Joint Base Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The ceremony was unique in that these cadets are sisters and received their awards at the same time - an unprecedented occurrence. The Spaatz Award is the and presented to cadets who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, character, fitness, and aerospace education. The event was held during the CAP's Massachusetts Wing annual encampment which is being held during the first week of August. Joining the two cadets are CAP Col. Everett C. Hume, Commander, Northeast Region; Cadet Leah Vigevani; Brig. Gen. Virginia Gaglio, Assistant Adjutant General-Air, Mass. National Guard; Cadet Col. Sarah Vigevani; CAP Col. W. Tim Nelson, Commander, Massachusetts Wing.
