STS-96 commander Kent Rominger (back to camera) is photographed at the Discoverys aft flight deck controls during docking with the International Space Station (ISS). The Forward end (+XA) of Pressurized Mating Adapter (PMA)-2 can be seen approaching the Orbiter Docking System (ODS) from the aft flight deck windows in front of Rominger, showing just how close the ISS is to the crew compartment. Frame 025 was selected by PAO for release to the public and by the crew for use in their presentations.
