Soldiers from B Troop, 1st Battalion, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, rehearsed casualty evacuation procedures during the North Africa Response Force Mission Readiness Exercise at the Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, July 28, 2022. The exercise tested the capability of the NARF to respond to crises and protect American interests in Africa. U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa supports U.S. Africa Command with a scalable crisis response capability ranging from a rapid response infantry platoon to a full-scale joint task force headquarters. Joined by elements of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force for aviation lift and a host of other capabilities, SETAF-AF and 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade form the nucleus of the North and West Africa Response Force or NARF.
