The exercise tested the capability of the NARF to respond to crises and protect American interests in Africa. U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa supports U.S. Africa Command with a scalable crisis response capability ranging from a rapid response infantry platoon to a full-scale joint task force headquarters. Joined by elements of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force for aviation lift and a host of other capabilities, SETAF-AF and 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade form the nucleus of the North and West Africa Response Force or NARF.
