    This image of the south-central United States on February 4, 2003, shows scattered fires (red dots) across the region. The fires are most heavily concentrated at the mouth of the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The image was acquired by the modis.gsfc.nasa.gov Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the aqua.nasa.gov Aqua satellite.
